University of Belgrade (UOB) manages the Academic and Research Network of Serbia (AMRES) whose main task is the development, operation and management of the communication and information network for education and research. It is supported by the Serbian Ministry of Science.
Belgrade University Computing Centre (RCUB) is the main network operation centre (NOC) of the NREN, coordinating the international cooperation and technical network development. AMRES is one of the largest networks in the country, connecting more than 150 research and education institutions throughout Serbia mostly with gigabit connectivity and applied infrastructures and services (e-learning, GRID, IPv6, MPLS etc.). RCUB’s software development group produces applications and information systems for e-Health, e-Government, and grid.
UOB-RCUB has been representing the AMRES NREN of Serbia in various international associations (RIPE, TERENA, and CEENET), and participates in projects funded by EC (GEANT2, SinSEE, SEEREN/SEEREN2, SEE-FIRE, SEE-GRID/SEE-GRID-2, and SEE-GRID-SCI).
UOB-RCUB is actively partaking development of SEE-GRID grid infrastructure, Academic and Educational Grid Initiative of Serbia (AEGIS), and coordination of 6 AEGIS grid sites. In SEE-GRID and SEE-GRID-2 projects, UOB-RCUB has been coordinating the activities of Serbian participants.
